Dear English answer man
In your blog, you asked if we can judge an author in what s/he writes. I belive that you can not judge someone on what they write. Look at poe. His psycotic stories were from his cretive imagination caused from the drinking and the loss of loved ones (mostly drinking). he was not psychotic person, or else he would be in an asylum. instead he was a man with an unlucky past (and a drunkard).
Also, many mystery authors write stories with detailed murders, robberies and other crimes, but does that make them criminals? no, it just that they make a great story from their creativity. Thus, it proves that the types of stories a writer creates does not make them that type of person.
Jacoby I agree with what you are saying. Poe did have problems with alcohal and his stories were psycotic. I think you did a really good job on explaing everything
ReplyDeleteDear English Answer Man,
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that all writers who write in a psychotic way are psychotic. Edgar Allan Poe may very well have written dark and psychotic works, but that does not necessarily make him psychotic. Many authors live fantasies through their writings. He wrote with mood, probably caused by the severe depression and tragedy that he suffered. I believe he was probably a genious. People love and continue to copy and treasure his work.
